Jobs

We need a City Hall that makes it easier for small business owners and major employers to succeed in Philadelphia and help build a robust economy for us. We need policies that attract, not penalize, business. The City’s high taxes and complicated regulations remain a major barrier that keeps big companies from basing their headquarters here, in one of our nation’s great cities. While we reform our tax structure and make our city more business friendly, we must also aggressively reach out to the world to bring the global market place to our citizens and promote Philadelphia as an international tourism destination for our history, culture and entertainment.

David’s Plan to bring New Jobs to Philadelphia:

“Companies need to benefit from being in Philadelphia instead of New York, Baltimore or even the Philadelphia Suburbs.”

Philadelphia is a Great City that has Much to Offer:

  • A Capacity for Growth
    • Existing Infrastructure can support more people, without sacrificing Philadelphia’s character or services
    • Vacant areas in the Navy Yard, North Philly, West Philly, and Northeast Philly
    • Transform old factory sites across the city into job-producing International Businesses and Factories
  • Competitive Wage Rates and Lower Cost of Living
    • Business people can live less expensively in Philadelphia than New York or Washington, DC.
    • We can achieve more jobs and a greater world-wide coverage
  • Partnership Opportunities for Businesses and Universities
    • Collaborate on high tech (robotics, engineering, artificial intelligence, aircraft, helicopters, etc…)
    • Train the workforce for the next generation of products and beyond
  • A Great Downtown & Many Entertainment Districts
    • People can have the big city feeling or small town comfort in Philadelphia’s diverse neighborhoods

“We as Council People need to help enhance and promote these capacities for new business.”

As a Council Person, I will work hard to:

  • Target Multinational Companies to set up operations here in Philadelphia
  • Create Opportunities for the next business wave – Green Technology Business
    • Incentivize Green spaces and Green communities
  • Develop Philadelphia into the Global City of the East Coast, and provide communication channels across the World
  • Support Trade Offices with foreign governments and businesses
    • Work with the U.S. government to strengthen Free Trade Zones here in Philadelphia
      • Allow goods to start movement here in Philadelphia
    • Create a Real World Trade Center for International Businesses to come here, make Global Deals, then enjoy our city and relax
    • Invite Embassies of Asian, African and European countries to locate in our Great City
  • Push to allow Philadelphia to own and manage its ports vs. the state ownership, as it is today.

“Let Philadelphia Manage Its Own Ports!”

  • Create Incentives for more Direct Flights to and from Other Countries
    • Enable International businesses to establish a Philadelphia Headquarters and travel back and forth to their home countries.
  • Provide vision for a 24 hour city with business flowing through Philadelphia from across the globe.
  • Modernize the Zoning Board
  • Make Philadelphia’s tax rates competitive, less expensive than surrounding cities and ports

“We must Challenge the Tax First Mentality, With Fresh New Ideas!”
